November 12, 2005: Registration starts at noon.
Magic Jam starts at Noon
Battle of Wizards starts at 7:00PM
The good news is that the Battle will now be a full day of activities. Magic Jam session, bring your magic and perform in front of an audience. We will have vendors, silent auction, door prizes, & a lecture by Steve Varro during the day. The Battle of Wizards 2005 will take place in the evening similar to last years events.
The Battle of the Wizards is a unique magic competition. It uses lay persons as the judges. How better to judge your magic, after all, most of us perform for ordinary people, not magicians.
Shoney's (next to Country Inn & Suites) will extend a 10% discount to all participants with a valid Jam ID. Country Inn & Suites will be offering a special Jam rate to participants.

Battle of the Wizards Guidelines
Type of magic allowed: Close-up, stage, etc. if it entertains then its valid. Keep it presentable to a family audience though. Performance space is 15 feet wide and has an 10 foot ceiling so nothing larger than this space advised. Close-up projector will be available if you choose to use it.
Time Limit: Each act will be limited to no more than 8 minutes.
Judging: Three lay-persons will be selected by the TCMS Dean to act as judges. They will give each performer a score from 1 to 10. 1 being lowest and 10 being the best. The judges' scores will then be added together to give a total. The highest total wins. In the event of a tie, the TCMS Dean will make the tie-breaking decision. All results will be final at the end of the contest. (The idea of using laypeople for judges was decided upon because we hoped the contest would be more a contest of entertaining ability instead of focusing on technical expertise and difficulty of tricks performed.). Points will be deducted for running longer than 8 minutes. All contestants running over 9 minutes will be stopped.
Prizes: Winner will recieve a trophy and Title of TCMS Wizard of the Year. Runner-up will recieve a plaque. All participants will recieve a certificate of participation(suitable for framing).
All participants will have their photos placed on the TCMS Battle of the Wizards 2005 webpage.
