TriCities Magicians' Society
The meeting began at approximately 6:35 pm on January 18, 2005. Location: 541 Café (541 Franklin Street, Clarksville, TN).
Members Present: Wallace Redd, Jim Dennis, Paul Herrell, & Kyle Gray
Guest Present: David Bilan
The meeting started with everyone introducing themselves and welcoming David to the meeting. Paul discussed updates to the website; photos, hit-counter, links, etc. The monthly theme schedule was discussed and passed around. It is also on the website for members to check on.
Paul then went through the upcoming show schedules.
January 25th show will have Wallce to MC, Jim, Paul, & Daryl will perform. The show will start at 6:45PM and members will try to be there early for setup and brief run through.
March shows need dates. The club discussed the and tenatively chose March 15th and 22nd. The meeting that month would be held following the show. Paul is to discuss these dates with his contacts and will get back to the club members.
David Bilan brought up the Eagles' Telethon next month and wanted to know if the TCMS might be interested in performing. We voiced an interest and the Eagles will get in contact with us.
Business concluded and moved on to Magic (Theme: What I got for Christmas)
Paul showed a counterfeit billl detector he had gotten and checked Jim's $20.00. Unfortunately it WAS a counterfeit bill and was destroyed by the machine. Kyle showed up for the meeting. He also had a counterfeit bill and so did the waitress, much to her distress. Lots of counterfeit money around do be careful. Paul then demonstrated a rope trick using a new change bag he had gotten for Christmas.
Jim performed some sponge ball magic, Benson Bowl, a cups and balls routine ending with tennis balls. He performed some knife magic and many other close-up effects for those present, including our guest David Bilan.
Wallace then performed a flurry of tricks from card magic, coin magic, rock magic and of course his infamous sponge bunny routine.
Kyle showed some card magic using normal cards and some sleights he uses to do them. Two card monte, etc. Kyle announced he will be leaving to move back to Florida in a few months. We will miss him and wish him the best.
All discussed various card sleights, top change, double lift, Prophecy Move, etc.
We were glad to have David visit us and invite him to come back next time.
All had a good time and went home after much magic and fun.
