Tri-Cities Magicians' Society

The meeting began at approximately 6:30 pm on April 20, 2004. Location 541 Café (541 Franklin Street, Clarksville, TN).

Members Present: Wallace Redd, Paul Herrell, Jim Dennis, & Stephen Schroering

Paul Herrell read a Thank you letter from the Millbrooke Elementary School Principle showing their appreciation for the Magic Fest 2004.

Wallace started the discussion with the idea of holding a magic competition in which the public and other magic clubs could participate. It would be held at the 541 Café and all magicians would be invited to attend, $20.00 registration fee, and winner would be given a cash prize. Judging would be done by lay-people to help differentiate the contest from traditional convention type contests. Later in the meeting a scoring system was discussed and would be simple and direct way to determine a winner for the event. The date was tentatively set for July 20th , 2004 to allow time to prepare for the event.

Stephen Schroering noted that a church is interested in sponsoring a magic show and he is going to look into when they would consider having this. Members discussed what would be reasonable to charge for such an event. Paul discussed getting together a magic club portfolio.

Wallace Redd & Paul Herrell nominated and seconded making Jim Dennis the “Dean of the TCMS”. Vote was unanimous. Also voted upon was to make the Dean not responsible for dues. This was also adopted unanimously.

Paul gathered information about the present members to use in making a bio for each member on the web site. Paul also discussed his recent trip to New York City and that he and his wife had the opportunity to take in a magic show performed by Steve Cohen. Paul highly recommended it to anyone attending New York.

Jim Dennis mentioned and passed around information about the "We care for Kids Day" at Vanderbilt. It is scheduled for May 1, 2004 at 3:00 - 6:00PM, 2200 Childrens' Way, Nashville, TN and will include face painting, games, music, & magic.
