TriCities Magicians' Society
The meeting began at approximately 6:45 pm on September 21, 2004. Location: 541 Café (541 Franklin Street, Clarksville, TN).
Members Present: Paul Herrell, Jim Dennis, Wallace Redd, & Stephen Schroering
Guests Present: Daryl Grace & Kyle Gray
The meeting started with reminding everyone present about the Battle of the Wizards competition. We already have two magicians to participate and hope to have more as the actual date approaches.
Paul showed the logo, which has been digitized, and members discussed colors of shirts. Paul had discussed some options with the embroidery persons and black would be possible only if we change the colors of the logo some. Red and blue would be good options also. Paul will try to get a couple of colors done and then present them at the next meeting and would like to have a shirt for everyone before the Battle of the Wizards.
Stephen then discussed the Relay for Life fund raiser and it was decided to put it off if possible until after November 2nd. Many members have obligations that will limit their ability to participate until after that date.
Jim did a treasurers report. Daryl Grace paid his membership dues.
Magic was then performed by all present. Theme: Coin magic
Daryl performed an excellent coin squeeze routine which entertained as well as mystified everyone.
Jim performed scotch and soda followed by an amazing silver & copper routine.
Paul performed a cups and coin routine, similar to a cups and balls, but using coins instead of balls. He followed this by performing a coin through card penetration.
Kyle performed a coin with birthday routine, it was excellent an left everyone amazed.
Wallace performed a coin to key routine using pure sleight of hand that Wallace is truely the master.
Much fun and discussion about different gaffed coins, how to use them, their history and development. Discussion about ungaffed coins and routines was also a topic of interest.
All present had much fun and exchanged and learned much about coin magic.
Next meeting October 19, 2004, no theme chosen, so bring anything magical and possibly spooky.
