Tri-Cities Magicians' Society

Newsletter No. 3: January 2005

It's hard to believe that the Tri-Cities Magicians' Society is over a year old now. It has been a very busy and productive year for TCMS. The club started with four members and has now grown to six members. We now have members who have been performing magic from six months to 68 years. This talent has not been put to waste, we have performed multiple shows through the year and have several lined up for the 2005 year. The Milbrooke Show in March 2004 was the premier show for the TCMS, it went great and we had over 400 attend. We followed that up with several smaller shows, although smaller just as spectacular. The shows also introduced some of the new members to the stage.

In addition to magic shows we also sponsored an excellent lecture. Tom Gibson lectured to the club and guests in April 2004, despite much snow, yes snow, the day of the lecture. It was an exciting and educational lecture and many of us have incorporated some of Tom's tips & tricks into our routines. Thanks Tom.

One of the biggest events of the year was the TCMS Battle of the Wizards 2004. It introduced a new concept to magic competitions, using lay-people as judges. We had nine contestants and three judges. All of the performs did an excellent job and all present had a great time and enjoyed some super magic. After almost one and one-half hours of magic, Daryl Grace was named the winner. He was followed closely by Wallace Redd, second place, and Todd Duff, third place. We plan on this being a regular event for TCMS and hope to make it even better and more exciting this year. Many thanks to all who attended and participated.

TCMS topped the year off with a spectacular Christmas dinner and Magical performance highlighting Alan Fisher. Alan entertained all of the TCMS members, their families, and many guests for a magnificant evening that my daughters are still talking about. Many thanks to Alan.

That about summarizes the first year with TCMS. We are looking forward to another exciting year of challenges, friendship, and personal growth as we each work to become better at what we all love, MAGIC.

TCMS meets the third Tuesday of each month at the 541 Café in Clarksville, TN. Please come and join us if you are in the area.
