Tri-Cities Magicians' Society
Newsletter No. 1: December 2003
On December 3 rd 2003 a group of magicians started a new magic club named Tri-Cities Magicians' Society(TCMS). At the first meeting the Constitution and Bylaws were adopted, and officers were elected as follows: President Wallace Redd, Vice-President Charles Rhodes, Secretary Paul Herrell, & Treasurer Jim Dennis.
At our first meeting Dr. Herrell went over his Hershey's Kiss production that he performs at his kids shows, Jim Dennis went over NFW and Patriotic Ropes (one that I really liked), and Charles Rhodes showed us some of his beautiful art work (you really have to see it to believe it) that can be used for our club. Charles also performed a card stab routine that was nothing short of amazing. I did my rendition of the Las Vegas Leaper.
If you are really into magic and the related arts and would like to meet with us please email me at wallaceredd@aol.com or call (931) 647-8965. If you are in the Hopkinsville, KY area, you can email Dr. Paul Herrell at herrellp@yahoo.com or call (270) 881-9378.
Tom Gibson will give a lecture for our club on Tuesday April 13, 2004 after our regular meeting (about 7:10pm). Tom does a great job in working with Gospel Magic; he has been a long time member of the Fellowship of Christian Magicians. Tom also has some great non-Gospel performing ideas that can be adopted for kid shows and for grown-ups. With Tom you get more than just the “tricks”, it's the presentation and how to be entertaining (something I believe we can all use).
The cost for the lecture is $10 for non-members, free for members of the TCMS. Tom's work on the newspaper tear, and ring and rope is outstanding, and alone worth many times more than $10, “I know I've seen it”.
We have a meeting place that's not on a Wednesday. Our next meeting will be Tuesday, January 13 th at the 541 Café, located at 541 Franklin St. in Clarksville, TN. If you live in Hopkinsville, KY contact Dr. Herrell for a ride. Our meeting starts at 7:00pm sharp. See you then.
Wallace Redd, President
